gracie's going to the temple cuz she's going on a mission

Gracie is turning 19 in June and has talked about serving a mission,   but couldn't decide if and when she should go.  she talked about going to Iowa for the summer to spend time with her roommate, Kamiah, and her family.   she talked about possibly coming to Eugene for the summer to work and save money.   She even talked about completing one more semester of school before going.   strong desire, but no real  commitment.   Then on Super Bowl Sunday( Feb 6,2022)  Gracie began texting me asking me many questions about our heritage,   our medical insurance coverage in foreign countries, etc.  when I asked her why so many questions,  she told me was in the processor filling out her mission papers.   What?!   yes, she had finally made a decision an would list her availability date at the end of August.   The next day she sent Russ and I a text to tell us she had scheduled her temper appointment to receive her endowments.  She had chosen to go through the Payson temple so she could accomodate her college friends as well as family members living in Utah.   Both St. George temples were still under construction and many still had limited operating guidelines due to Covid restrictions.   Payson was her favorite of the choices available.

she scheduled her appointment for February19,2022 at 8:40 am

Russ and I left late morning on Friday, Feb18th and drove from Eugene to Provo (13 hours).  we stayed at Garrett and Cescily's.   I needed to be ready and at the temple by 7:40 in the morning, because I was Gracie's escort.   30 minutes later family and Gracie's friends came to join the session.  with us wereGarrett, Grant, Cescily, Nana, Papa, grandpa and grandmaHyde, Maurice and Kellie Maxwell, ////russ' Aunt Mary, Jill Hyde,  Kamiah and Kaylee.   It was an amazing experience!   after the temple session was finished  we all went to lunch at Winger's in Provo. After lunch Russ went fishing on the Provo river for a short time while I went back to Gareet's with the kids.  we took short naps until Cesily had to leave to take engagement photos.   when Russ finished on the river we all went over to Reese and Kellie's for pizza and games.   very busy and fun day.   Russ and I stayed the night again at Garrett's then made the 13 hour return drive home the following day.   That particular day was also daylight savings   which threw our sleep schedules off even further.   fortunately Russ was able to make it to work on time Monday morning.
